Summary:
Adam Sandler is a stand-up comedian who's success on TV's Saturday Night Live in the early 1990s helped launch his career in the movies. A comedian of the love-him-or-hate-him variety, Sandler's early movie vehicles were comedies, including Happy Gilmore (1996, with Bob Barker), The Waterboy (1998) and The Wedding Singer (1998, with Drew Barrymore). He has also produced movies, including the animated feature Eight Crazy Nights (2002). To the surprise of his critics, he appeared in a dramatic role in 2002's Punch-Drunk Love.
Extra credit: Known for his comic novelty songs, Sandler has released several comedy albums, including They're All Gonna Laugh At You (1993) and Stan and Judy's Kid (1999).
Other former SNL players who went on to become movie stars include Mike Myers, John Belushi and Eddie Murphy.
